In German subordinate clauses, the conjugated verb moves to the end. These are introduced by conjunctions like weil, dass, wenn, ob.

Key Rules

  1. 1Conjugated verb goes to the END
  2. 2weil = because
  3. 3dass = that
  4. 4wenn = if, when
  5. 5ob = whether, if
  6. 6obwohl = although

Examples

Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin.

I stay home because I am sick.

In 'weil ich krank bin', verb 'bin' moves to the end.

Ich weiß, dass er kommt.

I know that he is coming.
